'Call of the Hummingbird', A film by Alice Klein (Producer, Director, Writer and also Publisher of Toronto's NOW Magazine).

In the gorgeous setting of central Brazil, a rag tag group of 1000 permaculture experts, Rastafarians, alternative health practitioners, 13 Moon Calendar followers and NGO executives work toward a do-it-yourself action plan to make the world a better place in 13 days.  But who is going to deal with the garbage?  Welcome to "Survivor" for social change addicts where consensus is the only way to make decisions.  Anyone can speak.  For as long as they like about whatever they want.  And they do.

The film's fascinating characters take us on a journey that covers terrain from the practices of permaculture and consensus facilitation all the way to the meaning of the Mayan calendar, which mysteriously ends in 2012 - just a few short years away.  In the process we are introduced to new ideas about politics, nature and even time itself.

'Call of the Hummingbird' is a fascinating exploration of new paradigm thinking about organizing for social change.

EcoArts of Lake County is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting visual art, visual art education, and ecologic stewardship to
the public and visitors of Lake County California

Our flagship program is EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk, a five month exhibit of sculptures "in dialog with nature" at the 107 acre Middletown County Trailside Park.  We are proud to represent local, Bay Area and national artists who give their time and material to create the only free, public art in Lake  County. Our artists get the opportunity to work in nature and understand the importance of making art accessible to all.

In addition to our flagship program, we've created the Coyote Film Festival to help keep the sculpture walk alive and fund our non-profit's initiatives.  Coyote Film Festival is Lake County's only voice for independent film.  We show main features, short films and animation one weekend a month from June through September "under the stars" at beautiful Langtry Estate and Vineyards (formerly Guenoc Winery).  Lawn seating, chair seating and picnic tables are available during the festival and the winery tasting room and facilities remain open. Click on Coyote Film Festival toggle above for more information!

Lake County is approximately 2 hours Northeast of San Francisco and abuts Sonoma and Napa Counties.  Lake County is isolated by the Mayacama Mountain range and geographically cut-off from the cultural diversity of the San Francisco Bay Area.  Mountains, hot springs, wine tasting, music festivals, etc. are all here.

EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk

We offer free docent guided tours to schools and youth organizations (as available, by appointment only). We'd love to discuss other youth/student programs utilizing our art educators and professional artists.

Middletown County Trailside Park is a scenic 107 acre county park and home to a mix of oak, pine, manzanita and madrone. The Park is located approximately 20 minutes north of Calistoga and accessed from Highway 29 to Route 175 to Dry Creek Cutoff (click here for detailed directions). The grounds are flat, containing numerous vernal pools and a small pond. Ponderosa pine and moss laden oak groves are separated by grasslands sprinkled liberally with wildflowers (especially in Spring!). The park is open year round from dawn till dusk.

The central trail has been designated for EcoArts: Lake County Sculpture Walk. This trail is approximately 3/8th mile long and meanders to a picnic area with large oaks shading half a dozen tables. In winter and early spring some areas of the trail system will be wet or boggy. Temperatures can range from the 20's in the winter to the 100's in the summer. There are restrooms in the parking lot, but there is no water and no electricity. High, comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

We invite artists to participate in creating works built to be removed with minimal impact to the landscape.  Click on Sculpture Walk to access our application process and more information about the event.

We invite Lake County educators to contact us to arrange docent guided tours of the Sculpture Walk (Contact Us Here).

We invite volunteers to help with construction, dismantling, mitigation, marketing and the reception (Contact Us Here).

We invite Lake County youth or student organizations to contact us regarding art programs utilizing art educators or professional artists (Contact Us Here).

We invite the public to enjoy, free of charge, the natural beauty and creative talents of Lake County, California. (www.lakecounty.com; www.lakecountyartscouncil.com)
